Growing Strong in a Competitive Market
When Visions Become Reality
The telecoms community knows that service providers are in a tough position these days. Pressure from increased competition and OTTs, ever-growing demand from customers and a strong trend towards consolidation have all cast a shadow of unease over the market. This has caused a trickle down to affect vendors across the industry. Many telecom equipment vendors and SPs have posted revenue declines in 2017 – all while demand keeps rising and needs continue evolving.
It’s not all doom-and-gloom, however, SPs with the right technology and services are prospering, despite myriad challenges. At ECI we started a couple of years ago with a solid vision of helping our partners realize, and benefit from, the trends of tomorrow. Armed with new strategy and branding, we felt we were well positioned offer something new and in sync to the market. We talked open and vendor agnostic, secure and real-time control. All trends that are now well accepted in the industry.
After what seems like forever, for us on the inside, we can full heartedly now say that 2017 was the year that that our vision of the future has become today’s reality. Our future-focused, customizable services and solutions, as typified by our ELASTIC Networks Strategy, means that our customers can seamlessly and painlessly migrate to the new world of virtualized, cloud native, intelligent networking. At the heart of this vision, lies the underlying belief that the transition to a new world should not require a complete ‘rip and replace’ – but rather a gradual transition.
A rising tide raises all boats, as they say.
We were thrilled when ECI showed faster than market average revenue growth in the first half of 2017, and even happier when in the second half this revenue growth skyrocketed. Moreover, a booming number of new clients, an increasing number of new partners, and our ability to swap out the competition is proof not only of the superiority of our solutions, but validation of our strategy and market understanding. This in a year that has other vendors suffering negative numbers.
Just a few of the customer wins, partnerships and overall highlights in 2017 include:
- Momentum with top T1 customers in India, EMEA and the former Soviet Union and addition of new T1s
- Further penetration of markets like Research and Education, Transportation and Defense
- Tens of new customer wins including Rainier Connect, Lepida SpA, Media Commerce and more
- Growth of 400G deployments with key customers across Europe upgrading their networks, including Netcom BW, New Telco, SURFnet and UPC
- Support of several large European utilities in modernizing their legacy networks to packet-based solutions, including AVU Netz GmbH, E.on and RTE
- Won three industry awards including the UTC Impact Award for Best Software, the NGON award for Best Test and Measurement and recognized among the Top 25 Utility Tech Vendors by CIO Applications, as well as shortlisted for an additional 12 industry awards.
Service providers are faced with the reality of shifting and rapidly increasing demands, and it’s inevitable that the needs of these networks will keep growing. Smart cities and connected infrastructures, the IoT, disruptive AR and VR technology and the promise of 5G are all here to stay. For this transition they need a partner that understands their needs and a solution that can adapt with their ever-changing needs.
With the latest addition of Muse™, a modular, cloud-native software suite, we are in fact elevating our ELASTIC networks into an ELASTIC services platform. Unleashing the power of the Elastic Network by simplifying service delivery and letting service providers focus on their first priority of driving new revenue streams. Taking a strategic view of the future by partnering with vendors like ECI enables service providers to continue to take the lead in launching new, innovative services and driving new revenue streams.
We’ll be showing off our exciting plans for our future, including 5G with the Elastic Services Platform, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain from February 26 to March 1, 2018, in Hall 6, Stand C610. Come by and hear more!
